    help out the winters

Im about to repaint my bottle caps......(winter wheels). They look bad enough already so i want them to at least look presentable. So im figuring to first wash then sand the wheels. Imnot sure what grade paper to use so any advise would help. I was then going to paint the wheel black and the lip and center cap resprayed silver. Any suggestion.....(how many coats, what type or brand paint, how long to leave dry before i use them again...etc.) would be really helpful.thanks

    they are bottlecaps.

    step one: clean them
    step two: paint them

it's not even worth the trouble to sand them and do a detailed job, especially for winter wheels. but if you must, 400 grit should be about right.

I like the flexibility of Scotch Brite pads or 0000 steel wool for the curved surfaces, especially in the webs. Use 400 sandpaper on the flat surfaces.
I like Krylon paint. Spray 2 coats of color and three coats of clear, allowing 20-30 minutes drying time between coats. Let dry overnight before installing the wheels.
Don't get paint in the wheel lug holes. Paint on the cone shaped part can cause the lugs to get loose while driving.
