so the fucking gas pedal broke

i found out it broke when it stuck down slamming my m42 off the revlimiter. Luckly they are only like $15 from the dealer but im trying to figure out how to get the bottom part out of the floor. I dont wanna just pull on it and end up breaking something

i actaully think it was broken before but it was just being supported by the floormat. The good news is i found out it wasnt going down all the way

I broke mine for the 2nd time on the entrance to a sharp turn. Wasn't fun. Anyway, there are 3 holes that you stick a screwdriver into to push a clip in. The two on the outside are the same direction, the one in the middle is the opposite direction. Just push in on them and yank that bitch up. Only thing to break is the bottom of the pedal, what they clip to is metal. New one just pushes on. If you can't get it, i'll take pictures of my old busted on to show you what i'm talking about.

Shit, i would say go to a salvage yard & 5-finger one. My cable has been breaking at the throttle-body...next visit to my school's machine shop will result in a solid Al setup. Anyway, maybe www.pelicanparts.com or www.alloembmwparts.com will have it.

there is an adjuster bolt under the pedal that you can adjust so the pedal will stop movment not the cable

Not really, it's just a bolt like a clutch stop would be. Screw in, screw out.

Ahhhh, under the gas pedal. Now I know what he means. That was a lot simpler an explanation ;) Thanks.

Do you still need a pedal? I got one from 89 iX. And cable as well.

I just took my car to a shop to have a couple things done because I didnt have time to do them, and when I got my car back the gas pedal doesnt spring back. Nice to know while your trying to back up in a parking lot, lucky me I got on the brakes and into neutral. I still am f-ing pissed

Check the return spring on the brake pedal box. Disconnected or missing.
