    Choking/trembling and starting issues

    85 E30 325e

Just recently car started having issues in the 2500-3000 RPM's at approx 70mph. Car wont go any faster and just starts choking and trembling. I reduce speed and try to go up again and it does the same problem.

Exited and was in 2nd/3rd gear doing 40-45mph once it hits that RPM it slightly chokes.

I got home safely and 5 minutes later when I went to move it, it would not start. Periodically I have had the starting issues since my car sat for a good 6 months. The battery seems good all the lights and the HID lights shine brightly. It's struggles to start, sometime does that clicking sound, and then after a few tries it starts.

Am I having issues with the fuel line?

Any help would be good, thanks in advance!

That sounds like either a fuel delivery problem (clogged filter dying pump) or a problem with the AFM. The suite of fuel system tests in the Bentley manual will reveal any fuel system problems.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Thanks for the help! I started it up and idling was going up and down as usual (ICV I'm assuming) then after 5 mins it died. I had it towed to my trusted mechanic and sure enough it is the fuel pump or the secondary pump. I assume it's best to replace both. I have no complaints considering I have well over 245k on the clock it's just these repairs always come at a bad time. I might let my E30 rest up for a bit and get a DD Honda Civic we'll see but thanks again for the prompt and accurate response.

Replace the high pressure pump and filter nd go from there. With luck, that will be the complete fix.

Chocking yes but I don't see how that will cost you to have a clicking sound when you start it instead of a cranking sound.but hey aslong as she good iam all for that.thanks....
