6 button to 13 button retrofit question

Hey, I was about to do a retrofit to a 13button, and I was wondering if you need the turn signal stalk etc....

I have the OBC and the harness to go to the dashboard, what functions will i be limited to by not haveing the turn stalk.

^^haha I'm not sure what you mean by this, but the turn signal definitely will still work. If you look at the 13 button OBC harness, the single-lead blue plug is what would normally be plugged into the turn signal stalk fwiw.

i dont think you read me right. i mean that it's nice to have an obc turn signal stalk, but it's not necessary to make the OBC work.

I plugged the OBC into the Instrument Cluster, and Also Into the OBC started the car, and nothing happened The 13button didnt start up, upon reassembling .. I also Snipped the wires for the stock 6 button oBc, because I was getting frustrated and made a stupid decision to pull it out.

Now there is that blank spot with no OBC. I think Ill just go Euro Clock or something, or get the VDO gauge insert. I got frustrated.

              Hmph.

I still to this day haven't been able ot get the MPH and the distance thing to work on my 13 button since retrofitting it into my vert-- I put all of the stuff that is part of it in though.

It seems like there were so many Wires going everywhere to do that. How hard is it to install a euro clock, is there a harness already in there or what.

the retrofit is pretty easy, fredK did a decent write up of it a long time ago. also the harness for the 6 button is small, you shouldn't have cut it. you have to pull the cluster to put in the 13 button harness anyway, which makes removing the old one easy

I was trying to fiddle out the 6 button harness, and it was getting caught up on the ground wires, and not coming out. then when I cut the ground wires. the plug was getting caught within the wires, so I got really frustrated, and just said fukit.

I need a new Instrument cluster, cause Im sick of not having an ODO, plus I broke the tabs off up top.

hopefully I can pick up a new cluster, and then do it right or something (as well as cluster rings, red needles, and alpina tach strip :) ). I'll probably need someones help, cause im retarted with wiring, and super intimidated with taht stuff (even after megasquirting my 02.) I just was hoping that It would just be plug into the back of the cluster, plug into OBC and BAM. When I plugged em both in and turned on the car, it just sat there. Im not sure if the bulb has anything to do with it, but in that case the bulbs are expensive too.. Its quite frustrating.

                      Thanks for the support though

                        what ground wires?

there are only like 2 connectors. you unplug it from the OBC, the back of the instrument cluster and maybe one other place. The entire harness comes out in one peice. Not like it really matters at this point but you made it much harder than it needed to be. :p

There were three brown wires. one brown with green stripe, brwn with blue, and straight brown that were attached to the 6 button Harness, I couldnt pull out the harness it was pretty stuck.
