Got my skid plate in yesterday

Who said they are flimsy? It's a beefy item and cost me 206.11 after taxes from dealer. I think it was a good buy as Boston roads suck.

You mean to tell me there are factory skidplates still available for the E30??? If so, I'm DEFINATELY getting one. A couple weeks ago I put to small holes in my oil pan after encountering a cantelope-sized rock.

And its $206? After my experience, that's worth every penny.

That sucks that they don't have anymore for the later e30s. I really need one badly. I might just end up having my girlfriend weld me one together, as she's taking a course next semester at her school. :D :D :D

wonder if there will be any clearance issues after the swap? This would be usefull to as KS roads suck, although I would think everything would be hidden under the Alpina dam.
                Im now E30less.

Those things are beefy, what are they made from?
When I first started reading I though they where the
cheap plastic ones like the put on Hondas.

What are the Parts # for Pre and Post?

I'm pretty sure they are steel. Dave's site has more info on them. www.davelength.net

Part number as follows 51 71 1 929 451 and I think they sent me the wrong one. I have the after 9/87 but I need a prior to 9/87 on due to my car is a non facelifted car.

I am unsure if the photo above is correct on which one goes on what car as i order mine with the vin number to ensure I didn't get the wrong piece.

Wow, those things look awesome! More than worth the cost for saving you from a cracked oil pan.
