    I'd find another working cluster and swap it in. Sounds like an SI board problem.

      no if it is affected by temperature, re-flow the circuit board of your speedo, i had the exact same problem and that solved it. Over the years of warming up and cooling down the connections expand and contract, until all of a sudden on breaks. This is why it works when its warm, it expands and makes contact. anyways, just get a cheap soldering iron, and some solder and go over each connection on the actual speedo board.
