School me on oil flow...

I can't seem to find this answer definitively anywhere in manuals.

How does the oil flow in our motors? (I'm asking for the purpose of understanding where to tap for a pressure gauge.)

Is it:

#1: pan -> filter -> pump -> block/head ?

or

#2: pan -> pump -> filter -> block/head ?

I believe number 2

all cars : pump -> filter

it is: pan - pump - filter/cooler - then galleys....

right after pump pick-up you have your have pressure sender.
