How do you get an airbag steering wheel off?

Yes, I know this is probably an extremely easy process, but I'm having a hard time getting this fucker off. I can't seem to get those 2 screws on the back side up against the hub off...

I want to put my M Tech 1 wheel on!

They're torx, just keep unscrewing them.

That would probably be why a phillips head wasn't working. Thanks Ken.

Ok, do does anyone know what size torx they are? I'm having trouble now finding a head that fits in there

No idea right now. One of the ones in my little kit from Harbor Freight fit, so I'm guessing it's a pretty standard size.

Ahh, what the fuck. Why am I having such a hard time with this? It seems like I can't get enough clearance from the hole where the torx screw is and the steering column (all my tools can't fit directly in there due to the steering column being too close)

I just read on dtmpower that it requires a T25? I still can't get that into the hole though because of the steering column...

yes they are torques hopefully you did nto scre them up with a philips head
with the wheel unlocked you cant get rotate the wheel enough to get to the wcrews?

you could just bang the box, explode the airbag, then you could get to the nut

Turn the wheel so the torx bits are at 12 and 6 o clock. Remove them at 6 oclock. You'll unscrew and unscrew them. They wont come ALL the way out. Just unscrew them and occasionally pull on the airbag to see if its all the way loose. Turn wheel and put other one at 6 oclock and repeat. Pull airbag off and unplug it. Then lock steering wheel by removing key. Undo steering wheel nut. Unlock wheel, MARK 12 oclock by making a mark on the steering column with a screwdriver or something. Put new wheel on and tighten nut. (dont forget the horn wire) Then remove knee bolster and unplug the orange connectors from the airbag computer.

That's what I needed to see. That will help a lot more. Thanks!

If you have the spare coin, pop in Home Depot and buy a "Skewdriver", sold there as a Milwaukiee 48-32-2100 "the Off-Set" for about $20

fuck my bad memory! i took one off for some guy that has a 90 or 91 vert. he worked at the starbucks in monterey park at the time. dont remember his user name.
i dont recall having to use special tools. just look for the access points. they should be on the rear.
