still having a cutting out/stumbling issue.

okay, so far I've eliminated my plug wires (got my new ones, needed them anyway) and the coolant temp sensor (it checked out fine). also tested the throttle switch (good) and afm (good). swapped the relays for the fuel pump and O2 sensor, no change.. that doesn't leave a whole lot of options. anyone have any other ideas?

checked for loose wiring, couldn't find any of that either. something is obviously broken though..

check all your grounds, and check your AFM again carefully, mine tested fine but it was indeed the culprit, ones in a blue moon it would send a weird reading and mess with the ECU's brain

crank reference sensor (I have a relatively new one if you're interested)? ecu?f

I would also check for corrosion in any plugs you can find under the hood.

james, do you remember the resistance values you got off your AFM? mine measured between 2k ohms (closed) to 3.3kohms (opened). seemed smooth in between but it's a bitch to test, I need to get some aligator clamps for my dmm.

I've tested my crank reference sensor before (it had rubbed on a pulley and was shorting out), it was fine, but it's something I'm going to check again since it's so easy to get to. I'll let you know, but I'm not hopeful, that would be too easy!

I'm doubtful it's corrosion of any sort, there's not a spot of rust anywhere on the car (except maybe the exhaust), and my engine bay stays dry even in a downpour.

before this started the temperature dropped to 13 degrees overnight, and the morning after it just ran like poo, but the morning before it was fine.. not sure how that would affect anything though.

also, when I replaced my plug wires I also replaced the plugs - and they were all normal looking, no sooty deposits or damage.

Its been a year, but the readings you got SEEM to be correct to my knowledge.

What I would do is pry open the top cover and see if anything is corroded in there, mine was HORRIBLE, I was shocked it worked at all... which is odd seeing as my car has almost no rust whatsoever

well I'd opened it up this summer when I was going to do the M30 AFM swap, I ended up just painting the outside and sealing it back up. it was like new on the inside, can't see how it would change much in 6 months.

This was my cars problem when i first got it. The guy that had last worked on it must have rerouted the wire wrong and it was rubing on a pully, shorting out and making my car run rough as hell and sometimes even die. Make sure this sensor is good. Could deffinatly be the problem.

I wouldn't rule out anything just because the resistances checked out.

                Definitely try swapping ecus, though.
