    Harbor freight engine stand?

Every time I have gotten anything from HF I have regretted it.

I need a stand for a less than 400lb engine.

Am I safe thinking this one rated at 1k will be fine at less than half that?

    Anyone have/seen/used this?

I've had one of theirs for 5 years and there's always an engine on it...

mine is silver, but exact same thing.

Have one as well hate how hard it is to rotate the darn thing once mounted.

Edit: While on the HF discussion who has the engine support bar?

I need to drop the sub frame on my M3 to do the oil pan and gasket and changing the oil pump at the same time. If you didn't like theirs where would you recommend getting one? And please don't say Snap On as I not will to shell out 900 for a fairly simple tool.

Yeah, I used the 750lb version (looks similar, except only 1 front wheel).

It worked fine for my purposes, but wasn't great. I used it to hold an M50 engine for 2 months while I did some moderate-level work: cleaning it up, maintenance/gaskets, and working on accessories. I didn't do much heavy duty engine work.

Sometimes, when I was wrenching on the engine, the stand would flex considerably. When you released tension on the wrench, the engine would bob 1/8" back and forth. I wouldn't use it for an American iron V8, but for our engines, it was acceptable.

I've never had problems with hf stuff. I have had a engine hoist from them for a couple of years that was permanently borrowed by an old ex friend. And a bunch of power tool/air tools that still work perfectly after a couple years of abuse.

I had a solar charger that melted in the sun (2X) ratcheting wrenches that broke, "sawzall" that lasted 10 minutes, and that is just off the top of my head.

                              Rips thru everything so far.
