IIRC, 88 325i's have dual mass flywheels. Did you have a dual mass flywheel and convert to a single mass by any chance? That looks like a pressure plate for a dual mass flywheel though, so I doubt it.

Reason being is that a friend (e9nine) did that and he busted three pressure plates in a matter of months at the same spot that you did, those springs that connect the plate to the friction surface.

            Wierd man.

I had the same problem on my E30 when I started running stand alone engine management. My final solution was to have additional straps installed on the pressure plate.

Sounds like you have the wrong pressure plate. Some cars can do almost 300k kms on an original clutch.

                  Keep it slideways!!

That is not the case, the factory pressure plate has very weak torque straps on it. These straps can easily bend or beak off completely if the engine is decelerated too abruptly.

Pieter: What modifications have you done to your car? Do you notice a recurring pattern as far as when the breaking occurs?

                        MOds are as follow:

288 cam, gasflowed head, bored t/body, Alpina Airflowmeter, Chipped, branches and freeflow, and limited slipp diff!

The pressure plate breaks under normal driving condition, just cruising on the highway and then all of a sudden i can feel something is not right, then the car is usually stuck in gear!!!!! I have had the fluwheel balanced and skimmed!! But i dont know if this is the problem!!!!!
