    Maitenence

I'll be getting Gabe's (bmwannabe) '91 325i here within a month and it has 141k miles on it. I'm not really sure of the maitenence he has done, or the previous owners have done. Maybe I should ask :) lol. Here is my preliminary maitenence list of things I will do first when I get the car. (prices are taken from Bavarian Autosport except the Balos because thats the only place I know of that has all this stuff.)

    1. Brake Rotors (Balos $60each)
    2. Control Arms and bushings ($80ea, bushings $22ea)
    3. Tie Rod ends ($50ea)
    4. Subframe bushings ($30ea)

Hows that list sound right now? Gabe, if you know of any recent maitenence that could save me some money let me know :)

    Will

It really depends on what has been done already.

If you are doing bushings for whatever reason, go with urethane; try www.bmwbushings.com for them.

Bav Auto is a rip off too.

If you are doing the subframe bushings, do the trailing arm bushings too.

dont urethane bushings transmit more vibration and noise?

Yes, but it isn't bad if you still have all the sound deadening and you listen to the radio at all. The pro's outweight the cons, for most people at least.

How much longer do they last compared to OEM replacement ones? And I know bavauto is a ripoff :) I was just using them as a reference haha

I havent done much other than the following:
            regular oil changes
            Valve adjustment
            Injector seals
            Intake manifold gasket
            basic shit (air filter, ect)
            new ps fluid
brakes (now trashed, good stopping power, but annoying vibration)

Ill actually throw in the fuel filter, never got a chance to put it on. The lady that sold the car to me said it had recent maintenece last feb. I cannot for the life of me remember if the timing belt was done or not. I searched the receipts and came up empty, but she was also having the recent things done by an independent guy at his house. I guess that was gonna be next on my list for sometime this spring, but since you will most likely be taking over ownership, thats up to you. Thats really all i can think of.

Okie doke. Thanks Gabe. Timing belt will be done first. Along with rotors and CA's and bushings. :) And we will see what goes from there.

                Bav is definitely a rip.

Don't buy any Meyle crap for the front CAs and tierods, only get Lemfoerder (OEM).

eap4parts.com has the CAs for $74 each for the Lem ones and the tierods are cheap too

Definately get the timing belt done, and just check the condition of stuff like the plugs, wires, O2 sensor, suspension parts, etc.

When I get the timing belt changed I'm gonna change most of the hoses, all the belts, water pump, and thermostat just...because water pumps gotta come off anyways, might as well put a new one on.
