    Tach problem?

On the freeways of California I will once in a blue moon hit around 100mph and coast it back to the normal driving speed.

This time however a truck next to me started toying with me and we both pulled from 80 to 100mph and from there or so I pulled a couple car lenghts ahead more from power I guess..
Now, I only mention this because I'm using the truck as a point of reference.

When I looked down at my tach, I noticed my needle didn't go past the 100mph mark although I know for a fact my car did indeed go past 100mph because I pulled on him at that speed..

    Anyone here or experience this?

I have a TMS chip installed by the way if that helps.
    325is / 4.10 lsd / revving passed 4krpm is all I remember.
    195/65/14 on weaves.

    Thank you!

tl;dr = Tach needle wont go over 100mph, I have a TMS chip if that helps.

What the tach should read is a function of what gear you were in. At a true speed of 100mph on standard sized tires a manual transmission 325i with a 3.73 diff would have the displaying 5500rpm in 4th or 4500rpm in 5th.

Be aware that the speedometer on a BMW almost always reads high and some read high by quite a bit.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

If your tach is reading 100mph, your car just broke the laws of physics.

Also, I think you trippin' dawg.

I was creeping up past 90mph at a good pace and using the truck as a point of reference, I know I went passed 100 when I was crawling away from him.

On average , at 67mph, your speedo will be off by 5 , to the positive. Tested a few.- Steve
