    325i Idling Issues

Ok, so I started my car up on morning Friday, and it sat and idled at 1200rpm, damn high it normally idle's at 750rpm. when I strted it on friday night when I was leaving my mates house, it was idling at around 400rpm, and once again this morning. I'm almost sure it must be the AFM, but I thought I would ask and see if it could be something else ?

O2 sensors and spark plugs are also a possibility... i would try them before the AFM as they cost much less. besides im sure your car needs them unless they were replaced recently.

Our cars over here never came with o2 sensors, but thanks anyways I found the problem, it was the Idle Control Valve

Isn't the O2 sensor to regulate A/F ratio?

Perhaps you're right, maybe I was thinking of something else.

At any rate, emissions regulations can lick my sack. At least we don't have testing in Bend. :D

O2 sensors dont do much on E30s anyway. You can drive around with it unplugged all day and never notice a difference, unless your car has a check engine light of course. It only helps make really fine adjustments to the mixture. Furthermore, the idle on our cars is open loop, this means that most sensor inputs, including O2, are ignored when that idle swtich is on.

Common sense- It's the new 'gifted'

I'm guessing we didn't get them, cause at that time we didn't have unleaded, thus we also never had Cat Converters
