    MAF conversion and piggyback options

Is it possible to do a MAF conversion without buying the kit....(i.e. split seond) or does it need teh arc2 and tmc1 to run correctly? I was thinking about trying a mAF and SMT-6 piggy back. Would this work? and how hard would it be to swap to the MAF?

[EDIT]: And has anyone used anything but hte SMT6 piggy back i have seen several out there.

MAF and smt6 will work, it is not plug and play.
you will have to modify the maf voltage output by way of the smt6 to the DME. Perfect Power web site gives instructions on how to do this.

I don't, but when you find a set up that works I would be very interested in knowing what it is.

As for price, I can get the SMT6 cheaper compared to the UNIChip.

As for features, can't comment but one thing for sure, for UNIChip, u have to send the car back to the tuner for remapping as no tuning software is provided for the enduser. With SMT6, u can retune anytime anywhere..

really? they provide you with no tools to tune the unichip yourself? that's kinda weak...

I wanna say there is someone on this board that doesn't live in the US, and has a convertible 325 (chris something?). I'm pretty sure he's got a unichip.

Chris E30 Cab.. I think he does have the unichip, but I'm not positive. I was looking for his thread with the dyno sheets a while ago but I couldn't find it.

Yes Chris has a UNIChip and so is another guy Tom(not sure of his nick here, could be 6piston)

I have driven Tom's car and the throttle response is good... no 'flap' lag....
