    A/C recharging/ advice on buying an '89 325is

Hello guys, I was wondering if any of you have recharged your A/C? How much does it cost? I found An E30 325is 1989. The guy said that the ac is going to need recharging pretty soon, and also, how much would fuel pump change cost and hoses change cost? Thanks for you help :)

Are you going to do this yourself?
Is the system r12, or has it been converted to 134a?
When I charged mine up with r12, it cost me about $30 a can, about 3 cans needed.

The fuel pump is around $200 give or take.
Which hoses you want to change?

ok, I might be getting a car, It has a salvage title, and the guy is working on it, it was involved in an accident where the lower control arm was bent, but the guy is fixing it, the right fender was replaces and the hood. The car has 103k miles!! White 325is 1989. The guy told me it needs new battery, allignment(which he is going to do) the price is 2300 negotiable. He says that sometimes he hears some ticking sound, but it's not always there.... (as from my experience in looking in these forums, might be rocker arms/valves?) it's auto (i'll do swap when I'll save some money, how much would it cost?) He says that the A/C might needs recharge, he doesn't know. He says the car sounds smooth. I live in austin, TX (actually Round Rock) and it gets up to 110F in summer, that's why I'm asking about A/C.
So, tell me your opinions about the price/car. Thanks for your feedback guys, I really apreciate it. ;)

                Salvage title on a e30 = <$1k

You would be stupid to pay any more.

maybe your state has different laws or prices, in here it's very hard to find a low priced bimmer :( , for 1989 325is auto, average price would be 3800-4000 with 150k and above.
I have the phone number of the previous owner and he says the the car wasn't involved in a major accident, his wife drove it and hit a pothole, they replaced oil pan and the block wasn't cracked, I checked with the mechanic who inspected the car. They salvaged it just because he didn't want the car...., he drives in porsche, I f*ing carrera turbo s

if she cracked the oil pan did she stop right away? cause if she didn't your engines going to be propper F_cked in a verry short period of time. if she stopped right away its all good. also the clickings prolly sticky valves, common thing... not a huge threat.

about the AC, the freon isnt supposed to leak, everyone says it just needs recharging when they are trying to sell a car. there is probably a leak in the system.

They sell the kit with a dye so you can find it. So expect that!

whould that leak cause any major problems? Or not? What to look for in auto tranny? How should I test drive it to feel any "m20 problems" ? Thankx ;)

The car wasn't leaking like crazy, they just towed it from the accident and then they flushed the system, so I'm assuming that the car(primaraly the engine) is good.

if they stopped right away and towed it it should be good dont worry about it then. i was just worried that she might have driven it after that happend
