    Damn slave cylinder

Ok I just replaced my slave. The new one is now in.
    Here is my problem.

When I swapped out the old one and put in the new one, it left me with absolutly no resistance in the pedal, an empty line, and a headache.

Now I am wondering how I go about filling the slave with fluid again? I was thinking of pressurizing the system but I don't know where to find a resivor cap with a pump attached or whatever.

I'm sure people have done this time and time again. Share your wisdom please.

    congrads on getting it in.

DId you try bleeding it yet.

you can gravity bleed it fairly well by cracking open the bleed screw and letting it bleed out .
you may not have the brake line fittings sitting correctly which will cause it to piss brake fluid everywhere.

Fill up the brake fluid resevoir and gravity bleed it. then close the bleed screw

put some fresh cardboard under there and pump the pedal back and forth. If you are leaking brake fluid then you are leaking it out somewhere.(brake line connections)

I did not think that the slave was so hard to bleed when I did mine

    good luck

So I should just open the resevoir cap and open the bleeder screw and the line should fill just by gravity?

I'll try that tomorrow morning. Got to go to work.
      Thanks.

haha, you'll never get it to bleed properly that way.. a pressure bleeder is the best way by far, but you can also try the old pumping the pedal method... have fun with that.

The pumping the pedal method is out of the question.
          There is nothing to pump.

So you filled the reservoir, opened the bleeder, and waited for the fluid to run out?
After that close it, and you may need to pick up the pedal off the floor a few times. If you still have nothing, the rod may be broken in the master cylinder, or its just plain bad.

take the slave off and bleed it by hand. once in a while thats all that will do it. i have a pressure bleeder and once in a while air gets trapped and you cant get it out without removal.

That would be because theres no fluid in there yet. Open the bleeder and pump the pedal. When it lays on the floor get off you ass and pick it up by hand and keep going.

Trust. I pumped, and pumped, and pumped some more.
Yet nothing. Even when my friend was pumping while I opened and closed the valve.

I'll pump the shit out of it tomorrow and see what happends.

But did you gravity bleed it first? OR not?

I second the premise that it coulc be a bad master cylinder.

                        good luck
