    Battery Problem (quick)

I just got finished wiring the battery to the trunk. I put the key in the ignition, turned it once, and all of the dash lights turned on. I turned the key again and everything went dead. I am not sure how to check everything but I will tell you what I did.

I put the volt meter on the battery, and it read 12 volts.

I went up under the hood and put the positive lead from the multimeter on the connector and the junction box and the negative a ground. I was reading 0 volts.

Is it a simple wiring problem? Can you lead me to what I should check?

    TIA

When I just hook up the wire from the battery in the trunk to the cable that goes to the starter, it reads 2.3 volts. When I hook everything else up, it reads 0.

Sounds like (for whatever reason) your fusible link blew out.

Follow the smaller line up the cable, It should meet the larger cable under some shrink wrap will be the link. Inspect it.

FYI, a battery reading 12.0V is very much dead.

A fully charged battery will read 12.6V.

Jordan, are you talking about the positive cable that runs the lenght of the car?

I get 12.5 volts before the fuse and 12.5 after the fuse.

have you replaced all your relays? if not they could be malfunctioning if they havn't been replaced they should be cause they get corroded and stuff. they should make a clicking noise if they are working, this doesn't mean they are transfering the all the volts and amps, just simply that they are engaging.

Is it possible that the relays got damaged (mis wired junction box)? Any good way to test them?

                    Thank you.

I dont understand. The way I had everything hooked up, I had power to all of th interior lights. When I tried to start the car, it sounded like something blew. Now I dont get power to anything. No interior lights.

                      What could have blown?

                      TIA

a fusible link is a wire that acts as a fuse, it burns up with to much current, i didnt think E30's had a fusible link though :?
