My car acts funny when cold...

Everytime when i start my car in the cold temp, or when i start it after letting it sit in the garage over night it acts funny.

When i start it and let it run, the second i apply a little bit of gas, the rpms drop and the car shuts off. Sometimes it doesn't shut off, but the rpms drop to about 300rpm and then it revs up. It never actually revs corresponding to how much gas i give it until it's warmed up.

Also when cold it shakes a lot when i rev it past 1k, it shakes and studders, not a smooth rev.

And on top of this, when i start driving it after i warm it up, it feels like the fuel or something cuts off as i drive. I'd be driving and all the sudden the car wll bog and no matter how much gas i apply it goes nowhere, after a split second it goes back to normal mode, and then cuts out again repeatedly until it's warmed up.

sounds exactly like what my car was doing. I'd check out the throttle posistion switch (it's under the throttle body) and all the corresponding wiring. I had a leak in the coolant hoses at the throttle body that got into the wires, I still haven't sorted it all out. I may have to cut and splice some wires, there's coolant running all the way down the wires for the ICV, TPS and charcol bypass valve. :(

what you can do to drive the car meanwhile is disconnect the TPS and reset your ecu (unplug the battery for a few minutes). if your problem goes away, you'll know it. it won't idle at the correct RPM and wide open throttle will be useless (the switch tells the ECU when the throttle is completely open or closed, changing engine maps), but it will start up fine and it won't cut out randomly.

also check your throttle body coolant lines for leaks. the housing itself has a small cork gasket that will also leak after a while. I knew mine was leaking for 6 months but it was so small I didn't worry about it, and now I'm paying for it.
