And how do they do this? The must be the most innacurate tune of all time :) The only way i can think of is if you are running standalone with datalogging and you can get crossover points....considering 14.7:1 is the ONLY AFR mix that a NB can get right. Even then...you have to figure out how much more fuel you need to get your AFR richer under acceleration/high rpms...so then you have to do math.

A NB sensor in my opinion is ONLY good for corrections while cruising at highways speeds so that you get good fuel mileage. or just to make sure your not running lean..therefor kiling your motor under hard acceleration....but it's not a good tuning tool.

Running megasquirt....ive found it very difficult to tune much of anything with a NB... WB is the only way to go.

If i were you...i'd just go standalone...which is almost the same price as an AFC controller if you use Megasquirt...and is WAY more tunable. I have a wrietup on my Website which tells you where every single wire goes in a complete megasquirt install. You can buy built units from people...so you don't have to worry about making the board yourself. With my instructions...and a prebuilt board....i'd say you could do the install and have the car running in a day...easily. You can also run basically any injector size you want. I have basemaps etc. as well if anyone is interested, you basically just have to scale back the fuel tables for the size of injectors you'd like to use. My map is also setup for boost...but you just won't be getting into the boost part of the map if you are N/A.

            yea...they actually do,depending on setup,small adjustments made to the air/fuel needs tuning,I/H/E,bigger cams,bigger intakes,ported heads,built blocks,it can go on & on,
a safc/afc adjusts timing as well as fuel needs in decrease &/or increase at any rpm range by 50%,not somthing most of the ppl here already know,
but a safc/afc can improve HP/1/4 et's if set right on a NA car.

Would this be the right thing to use to tune ITB's on an M42?

                depends...

a wideband would tell you that,
but,...if you had to tune it to use ITB's,depending on ecu setup,
then yea...an safc would tune it perfect & thats what their used for,

                  maybe.

if you have the $$ to do custom ITBs, but not enough to tune it the right way. SAFC's although adjustable, are limited. 'worthwhile' for small gains on a slightly touched car but for ITB's... not so much IMO - there are def. better more appriopriate options

So what would be the right option to turn ITB's on an M42? Is Megasquirt what's needed... ?
