    325is gauge cluster in e30 m3?

I might be driving down south to pick up an m3 next weekend. The tach and temp gauge don't work. I was thinking of going down there with another gauge cluster, and picking up a coolant temperature sensor, just to try and have a temp gauge for the ride home.

I have a spare gauge cluster from an 89 325i. I was curious if this guage cluster would work, or if I should try to get a hold of an m3 gauge cluster before I go. Thanks

you'd need an m3 coding plug in the i cluster, then the tach would work but not show the correct rpms' but it would show how close to redline etc. you were. and i dont see why the temp wouldnt work

it would probably work but why not just drive it home and repair it? the tach isn't exactly critical to driving the car. you could probably just swap temp gauges as well if the one in there is bad, but it probably just has a bad ground or sensor.

I'm not concerned about the tach, only the temp gauge. I guess I could just pull my e cluster (the i cluster is going into my e) and put that temp gauge in the m3 cluster

If both the tach and the temp gauge are dead i would guess that you have an SI board or battery problem.
