    vdo, motometer interchangeability?

If I currently have a vdo cluster in my 85 eta, will a motometer unit plug in and work? Or are the plugs and whatnot different?

As long as its the precoding plug cluster it will work fine. so 84/85 and pre 04/86 models

So after 4/86 they used a coding plug? What does this do?
      I guess I can't use the one I found, it's out of an 87.

Anyone have an eta cluster looking for a new home? or maybe a cheap source for odometer gears?

Can anyone else confirm this? My 1985 Eta can use any cluster pre-4/86, VDO or motometer?

I've changed my whole 1984 VDO cluster for an 1987 Motometer
          and it should work too
