I should probably do it. My car has 195,000 miles and i bought it recently.
Is there anything that should be worried about while doing it?

The only big thing to watch for is that you don't put so much liquid in that you hydrolock your motor. I've never heard of anyone doing this - would probably take most or all of the can being dumped in at one time - but it's worth being aware of.

Also, plan your foaming. I didn't really think about where I was going to drive to get the smoke out last time I did my car. I live in a not-so-upscale neighborhood where crappy cars abound. As I was spewing out smoke, I got pulled over. No ticket or anything, but an embarrassing conversation involving lies and playing dumb that could have been avoided.

After blowing out a ton of smoke at idle (with some revving) you'll need to hit the highway for the second phase of foaming. Plan for five miles of smoking at speed.

I used it on my Outboard and it ran like new after smoking for an hour

So nothing negative to say about it? That's a good thing. I've had a can of it in the garage for about a year now, just haven't ever done it. Maybe I'll get around to it this weekend.

yeah any parts place..hell i think even wal mart carries it.. figure at most 10 bucks for a can (tho again it varies store to store )

i used it on my car did about 1/2 a can thru the fuel pressure vacum line (think thats what it is called line that runs from regulator to intake) and half in my tank..

smoked for a bit car ran better , and also figured out my exhaust mani has a leak .. stuff is legit plan on running another can thru in a few weeks but this time in my oil also (doing an oil change right after)

plus i am gonna try the seafoam auto tune in my tranny ..seems it has helped those of us with auto's

Did it at night and ran a strobe light under the car. Looked like a roller disco in my driveway. The kids in the 'hood ask me to do it again all the time.

+1 on seafoam did it to my 98 Acura rl car only ran premium fuel (tried bein cheap ones not so good) with 168k not alot of smoke if anything bout a min of smoke, did on my sis 04 altima wow smoke show, did my 89 cabby huffed & puffed smoke like crazy fixed my idle a bit... moral of the story shit works great

indeed i might just ask a shop if i can seafoam my car there or just do it at a friends house .. cause my neighbors would think im doing a side show and call the cops( and they would think that way)

but then again i live in a slightly ghetto place

Just buy a can at wal-mart and do it on the outer of the parking lot. If it is anything like the wal-marts around here smoking cars are commonplace. The smoke is only intense for a few minutes then you can just drive it around with it smoking a little bit.

When I did it I used my brake booster line, seemed to work ok but after reading some posts I'm second guessing the choice.

The one thing that I was strange was that I did it on my sister's '88 mustang 5.0 and it barely let out a little puff of smoke.

i didnt have a good experience with seafoam. I did my research beforehand and it seemed like there were more people that gave it the green light as opposed to those who were against it.

I used it on a 1990 325i with about 250K miles. I followed the detail instruction found on one of the threads on here and yes it blew out a ton of white smoke which was cool. However afterwards the motor was a little louder and it seemed like I lost a little power. My theory is that the seafoam worked so well cleaning all the gunk from having been driven for 250K miles that it exposed the worn parts that had been packed with all the gunk from over the years. B/c shortly after a friend of mine noticed that my camshaft showed some marks that he didn't see before when he adjusted my valves. This might have been an isolated incident but I didn't feel/notice any positive difference after using seafoam.

Great info. What Method you used? half in tank , half in vac line?
