    emergency: throttle cable snapped

So I started my new big internship today, and until I move out this weekend I am commuting 110miles/day.

So today on my way home my throttle cable snapped.

to get home i mcguyver'd it with some fishing line I had in my trunk but hand acceleration isnt quite a skill ive developed yet lol.

I need a quickfix so I can get to work tomorrow and possibly thursday safe and without problems.

    please help me out

    anything?

here is a question: my car was originally automatic but swapped to manual. but it still has all the cables/box for the auto transmission. I imagine they are inoperable but I didn't want to clip the line before I found out from someone. anyone know about this?

The trans cable is useless i'd say rip it out and good luck on the accelerator cable.

The quick and cheap fix involves a trip to a nearby bicycle shop. Usually less than $3.00 for a cable.

Ok I just drove my e30 over 100 miles with a guitar string with a fishing weight and fishin spindle attached as my throttle cable. worked well but I would prefer to use something a little less nerveracking

if I go buy some bicycle cable, how do i attach stuff at the end to a.) connect to the throttle body b.) connect to the pedal assembly

                $23.56 for a late model 325i from Tischer. $25.02 for a 318.

Do it the right way and you won't have to worry.
