And? He still has experience with it, since I haven't heard of anyone else running that diff here on the forums.

This is true, but the auto is taller. The results will differ if OP uses one on a manual car.

The 4.27 Torsen diff comes from an automatic z3 . Its a direct swap and makes the car much more fun:)

and an auto can still hit 40mph in first with a 4.27 at around 6100-6200rpms.

                the auto's 1st gear is 2.4:1, manual's 2nd gear is 2.2:1, so it'd be about 50mph at the stock redline in 2nd.

                    Small case? Medium case?

I have an LSD medium case from a Euro 518i, in my e30 M3
The small case can be found in a 318i auto convertible
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

I have a Z3 4.27. 1st gear is like OMG HAX. I think it runs out around about 20mph - when I did the swap, I thought I hadn't properly connected the speedo sender until I hit about 3000rpm. I don't bother with 1st in the rain. I run out of 2nd gear easily @ auto-x.

It's a medium case diff. Aside from the shape of the speedo sender pins, the diff is IDENTICAL to an OEM e30 diff.

I think it'd be perfect for a long geared .5:1 double overdrive T-56 swap, and a bit of boost.

Would I do the swap again?
                      In a word, YES.

IMNSHO, torsen >>>>>> salsbury (although, in an ideal world, it'd be a T2-R, not a T2 diff).
