    Eta owners with diff swap?

I wanna swap my dif but first I need a lil info. What rpm are you hitting in 5th gear going 80 and with what dif. I'm thinking of going with the 3.43 but don't wanna kill myself on gas while hustling on the parkway. Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I get the exact numbers mixed up. I thought it was a 3.46. Anyways, I think something right around there would be good.

With a 3.73 and getreg 260 I'm spinning right around 3000 rpms at 70. A little less than 3000 I think. I think somewhere around 3300-3500 is 80 mph. I never cruise at that speed though, so I can't recall.

I think a 3.46 would be awesome for an eta.

I think the 3.25:1 is the best compromise for differential ratio on an eta. Even with that, the eta sounds like its turning too many rpms on the highway. I've had an eta with 2.79, 3.25, and 3.46.

A 3.73 with the .81 fifth of the 260 will be about 3400rpm at an indicated 80mph. A 3.46 would put you at 3150rpm and a 3.25 would put you at 2950. You will notice a bigger difference if you're coming from a really early eta with a 2.79 than if you're coming from a later eta with a 2.97.

I have an 87 I'm not sure which dif that comes with. The 3.7 sounds too intense. I'm not gonna lie though I just wanna beat a civic si really friekin bad, that would make my day. Had a run in with a stock 09 civ yesterday in my stock (- the cai) and it was a tie so I'm thinkin with 3.46 and the tms chip some dude is sendin me I can prob achieve that goal. Thanks for all the info. Now all I gotta do is pay my insurance and find someone with a dif for sale.

Actually wh33l, I just read into what you just said and now I'm a lil confused. Are you talking about the stock gearset or is that with a swap of the fifth gear. That sounds like a badass mod if it is but prob a bit too much work for me as I'm 20 and have pretty much no experience with cars.

What size dif is in the 87 eta. Trried lookin it up but the site said 3.25 and I know that's wrong. Also, is anyone trying to get rid of a 3.46lsd in a couple weeks. I'm in the market.

The 87 eta should have the 2.93:1 stock. Get under there and look. There should be a little metal tag on the diff with the ratio and "s" if it is limited-slip.

But you won't be faster than any Si from the last decade or more...

An eta is never going to go fast. But you can make it more fun to drive. And the stock Getrag 260 fifth gear is a .81, I wasn't talking about modding your gearbox.

My M50 E30 back when it was on the stock tune was about even with a new Si, you will have a hard time making an eta that quick with the stock head.

Good to know. I guess I gotta settle with slow. I really do love my little car though. So fun. I just wish it was as quick as it feels lol

Actually isn't there a camshaft for the eta that adds some redic amount of torque. I'm not really trying to go faster than 115 I just wanna get there as quick as possible. Anything faster than that is just wreckless.

Actually I have no idea what I'm talking about. Thanks for the help though. I'm gonna save up a couple weeks and find me a 3.46.
