Fixed my Washer Fluid warning light

So a couple of weeks ago I got my first check light warning, washer fluid.
Just being washer fluid I figured i'd just live with it.
It started to bug me (I was proud of my warning free car)
So started poking around seeing if there was dirt in it or w/e.
Turns out that somehow the sensor had flipped itself 180 degrees, so instead of the float touching the sensor when empty (turning on the light) it was upside down, so the float was floating up into the sensor and activating the warning light.
    Easiest fix ever!

Mine did the same thing... but I thought it was a bad sensor, so I bought a new one. When I went to put it in, that is when I realized that it had flipped. Occam's razor gets me everytime.

Mine had done the same last year, rotated enough so the float and contact were not closing and the light was on. Spun it around and it's been fine since. Question is what causes them to turn?
