I have a plug that looks similar on my early model, except it's down by the ABS module. I always assumed it was for the foglights that my car is missing. :/

    Probably a different plug.

Looks exactly like the plug for the fog lights on my 89 325i. And afaik, there are no other plugs like that on my car.

Brake fluid level? Does that reach over to your reservoir cap?

May I suggest starting that randomness with the fog light switch? Remember that the low beams have to be on (and the high beams off) to get them to switch on.

It's not fog lights. I have it as well in the same location. No clue what it is. Fog plugs are in the headlight harness behind each set of headlights. It's a round plug.

^ yep. i just hooked up the foglights on my 86. not the same.

it does look similar to the front turn signal connector, however.
