Get jack stands. And yes, you will need allen key sockets for the half shafts.

Well, are you really that adverse to buying tools? You need jack stands, and an allen sockets do come in handy every so often.

make sure you don't accidentally pull apart the driveshaft.

E30's have allen keys? Or is it torx sockets?

torx is a star pattern. allen is a smooth 6 sided hexagon.

                the half shafts are allen.

I know what the difference is between a torx and hex lol. But they must've changed it when they went to E36. My ti's both have torx sockets and I've never removed the axles on my e30.

It's an allen key, for sure.

Since you aren't dropping the subframe, I had to use a 19mm wrench and an epic cheater bar for the upper bolts (socket wouldn't fit). PB Blaster the shit out of those bolts as they were the hardest part of the swap for me, hopefully they are easier for you. I had to go to the hardware store twice to get longer and longer sections of pipe to use on the wrench.

Know what I did? Forget a cheater bar. I took a grade 8 nut and bolt that a 19mm wrench fits onto and used the nut/bolt assembly as a coupling so I could use my 1/2" breaker bar with a 19mm socket. So it goes the 19mm wrench end on the case, nut into the other end, breaker bar (in this case I used my long 1/2" ratchet) and socket on the bolt side of the nut/bolt coupling. This way I can get a different angle if I need too AND its balls long.

Haha, I guess you could do that, duct tape it up maybe so it doesn't fall apart immediately.

or just use an impact wrench. i either used a 240ft/lb impact or a 18" breaker bar. getting the bolt off isnt that hard. getting the bushing down, out of the car, now thats a PITA.
