Hey folks Im kind of a noob with bmws. The guy I bought the car from a guy that recomended that I put 15w40 weight oil in my car. I go to the store and I cant find this stuff. I did find 15w40 but its for diesel engines. My question is, will I have any problems or concerns that might arise if I put this diesel oil in my nondiesel bmw. My 318is needs an oil change soon so any input would be appreciated.
15w40 diesel oil, is this ok in an M42?

I have been running 20W50 Rotella for 3 oil changes now on 2 M20s: seems fine. I know it is very high in zinc, which is lacking in most oils these days.Comment
