    what does this plug into?

so i got my 87 325e all put together (after buying it with pretty much no front end) and i keep stumbling across this plug.... i looks like it should plug into the radiator for a temp gauge but it's not long enough, and i already have that plugged in... it's right below the driver side head lights... any suggestions? the ac is on the other side of the car...

i think the temp sensors are on different sides on the e and is (your sig indicates you have an is, or at least an i) and i know the coolant tanks and some other stuff are flip flopped between models... but yeah... weird little bugger, aint it?

I have one hanging on both drivers side and pass side of my car and I've been perplexed by it. Always felt ashamed I didn't know what it was for... maybe I'm not alone.

I have this same plug just sitting there and never figured where it went. Does anybody know?

                  Horns? Foglights?

I have one two-pronged plug hanging next to my fuse box and have no idea where that goes either.

                  Good luck.

those look like foglights to me.

in the future, turn 1 thing on inside the car, and then use a multimeter to check the wire. you will eventually find it.

It's for the auxillary fan. Is yours functioning?

Since it's for the aux fan is there a way to set up the electric fan to run off of it?

I have two three pronged neither connected to anything on my swap.

And I have two two prong, I'm fogless thanks to some PO so i now just use the fog light circuit for my fan switch.
