    Gas leak!!! Help!

Was driving home just now and smelled gas so I stopped to check and the line under the driver door was leaking and my driver's wheelwell looked like I had gone through puddle. Is the fuel line continuous or segmented? I need to get this fixed asap!!! Can I take the line out of another car or will it be a ginormous bitch?

gas lines are a ginormous bitch.

if you're going to have to do it. dont put yourself through it twice and put a half shitty line in your car. just order new ones. it will save you headaches and time.

Your driver's side wheel well... in the front or rear? Just in front of the rear wheel is where your fuel filter is. There are two soft hoses there, so are those the ones you are talking about? It goes tank -> soft line -> filter -> soft line -> hard line. Then the hard lines go towards the front of the car.

So where did you see it leaking? Or did you actually see it? I had an incident once where I took a hard right turn and then the car fell flat on it's face stuttering. I went from half of a tank to running out of gas very quickly. Turns out that the line going from the filter to the hard line had cracked at the hose clamp and it was spilling everywhere. So I replaced the filter, the two soft lines and all of the hose clamps.

Have you ever changed your fuel filter? There is a black plastic panel covering the area right in front of the rear wheel, so you may not be able to see what I'm talking about without pulling that off real quickly. And you don't need to buy any specific hoses. Just pull them and go to the parts store and get a section of the same size hose and cut to the lengths you need. Replace the hose clamps while you're at it too.

it was in the front. i ran it this morning and sat under it with a shop light waiting to see where the gas was coming from but no dice. i had a couple r3vers to check it out too and the lines are bone dry...i'm starting to think that i drove through a puddle of gas? does that even happen?

either way, i'm pretty sketched out by the whole thing and i'm going to replace the soft lines and fuel filter (which has been sitting in my garage for a month waiting to be put in) at next empty tank. for now, i'm being cautious and stowed a fire extinguisher under my seat just in case, but the lines are drier than a mormon bar.

I had a gas leak once on the driver's side rear - right near the fuel filter. I kept seeing puddles under my car and smelling gas; however, there was no visible liquid leak.

Turns out that since it's a high pressure line, once it escapes the line into normal atmospheric pressure, it immediately vaporizes. It was not until I put it on a lift that I noticed the fumes pouring from the slightly cracked line. All it would have taken is some moron lighting his smoke with a match and throwing it under my car.

It was a hilariously easy fix. Took me like ten minutes.
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
            Mark: "You never will."

yeah i got under and changed the filter and lines on the back end last night. however, it's running with a lope now, and wants to stall when the rpms drop. the idle is also below 500rpms. i only drove it 4 or 5 miles like that, but it worried me so i parked her. just drive it off?

If you disconnected your battery for longer than five minutes, you DME will need to reset. This means, at least in my experience with my car, that your car will just have goofy idles and odd performance for a few start/run/stop cycles.
