has anyone EVER replaced their microfilter?

I didn't either, but I found it on the ETK. part # 64311394093

looks like it goes into the HVAC unit, under the blower motor basically. I bet after 15 years it looks something like the one in this guide to the E32:

so anyone know how to get to it or can otherwise confirm that it exists?(other than the ETK)

That is disgusting. I am sold if you can confirm we even have one of these things.

Our cars don't have those. Maybe the ones with the later uber rare e36 style comfort controls... but not the rest of us.

are you positive? because I looked it up under build date 12/90 (my cars) and it was there. usually if parts don't fit our cars there is no part number even if there is a picture..

also people argue that E30s have no cabin temperature monitoring/control, but I was just reading in my car's manual about it yesterday....

either way I'm going to find the darn thing if it's in there. :P

I've taken many parts cars apart. There is no place to put it in the hvac unit, and it isn't anywhere else.

From everything I've read it seems like the Non-ac cars are the ones that got that filter, it slides in where the AC core would be.

Ditto Ely. Non A/C cars could be had with it. No US spec cars were like this.

The North American guys can say what they want. If you go to the Euro forums, there WAS a cabin temperature control feature available as an option. I have saved the whole thread and write up actually in my documents, of how the system works.

As for a microfilter, that is something that I myself have been inquiring about as of late. I would like to custom install one. Looking for someone who may have already done this. No concrete answers as of yet.....Will have to visit the euro forums again.

Good luck, like said it goes where the evaporator core is in the airbox. Youd need to rig up something to hold it on the fresh air side of the core.
                  Im now E30less.

You are right. That only seems to be my course of action. The fresh air side. I'll probably end up just rigging something up as you put it, under the area of the wipers mechanism.
