    318is motor mount question

my 318 needs new engine mounts. Do i have any cheaper options than the stock fluid filled mounts? Do you know of anyone that makes poly mounts for the m42? thanks

I'd stick with stock otherwise you'll feel more vibration.

Last I checked IE sells some urethane mounts for the M42, I'm thinking about trying them out whenever I need some mounts.

ill try the E28 mounts, they look nothing like the m42 mounts so I am skeptical, but sounds like atleast one person has made them work

I am running the E28 535i mounts. They are considerably stiffer (and CHEAPER). The car revvs & shifts a LOT more crisply. If you can stand a little more vibration then these are awesome. There are some small tabs that need grinding off, and they go in with a certain orientation.

I have a writeup on my site:

                  Enjoy!

                  PS
I would not arvise poly mounts. Those are pretty stiff & you risk causing a LOT of new rattles with them, and possibly some damage. Even the M30 mounts have caused a couple rattles that I never noticed before, but nothing terrible. I got used to the extra vibration in about a week anyway.
