    Cabin fan intermittancy issues.

Got an odd problem the other day.

Woke up and went out and got some donuts in the cold washington air and had my cabin air on pos. 2 or 4 blowing hot air no issues the trip there and back.

Later that day I went to run an errand at night and on the way back noticed that the fan was not blowing any air, but I could choose cold/hot without any issues and the air flowing against the car was pushing it into the cabin just fine.

Here's the weird part.. later that night I went out and turned the car to ACC. power and tested it out, worked fine.. started the car up, worked fine.

Today I went to run an errand once again and once again the fan isn't working at all again and didn't work on several stops.

The fuses are all fine, and I am assuming there's an electrical problem somewhere, but i'm not sure why it would work all the way up to full blast one moment and not the next..

Why is it working sometimes and not others? Is there any other tests I can do?

the brass rings that the brushes ride one are probably worn down to nearly nothing.

Mine did the exact same thing - worked perfectly, and then one day it stopped working intermittently. Then it stopped working entirely. Lucky I had a mint one in the parts car.

You could check that the highest speed resistor is working (measure continuity, it's the biggest one) - then run it on full speed and see if it keeps working. you could also check the fuse, and the connections for cleanliness. But in all likelyhood it's just a worn out motor.
