    How to remove the stereo

I removed the two bottom phillips head screws and i'm trying to pop the panels. is there more screws i'm forgetting about?

the only other thread i found talking about this said that the rest of the screws were inside after popping out the plastic covering everything.

    please help. much appreciated.

    Dude.

    Put that shit back together.

The deck comes out the front.

Find the 2 little flaps on the face, loosen the allens, slide it out.

i was wanting to take more than that off since it keeps shorting out.

what would you do? fuse 21 keeps burning out, someone told me to check the aftermarket stereo that came with the car, he guessed that's where it most likely shorting out. Because of this, I have no RPM, mpg, obc, or radio functions right now. Just bought another pioneer head unit to switch it out since it was old anyways. But now i'm wanting to pull everything out to make sure the wiring isn't bare at some part or something crazy.

Fuse 21 runs way more than just the stereo.

Pop your deck out and look, most installs are a fucking mess. Look for wires that have been crushed.

Now i'm thinking it's the unit itself.

We finally got the thing out and saw that the constant is there and the switch works when we turn the key. But the radio will not turn on.

Tell me if i'm wrong on this part:

the radio has a 10A fuse and fuse 21 is a 7.5, the old man and i are assuming that there must be a short inside the unit itself (it is older btw) but since fuse 21 handles less it burns out there. After I took out the radio the fuse did not blow right away, so i guess we'll see.

if you are going to take the hvac panel out:

-2 screws in the bottom (access from the coin tray in front of the ash tray)
-2 screws in the top above the rectangular buttons/blanks
-4 screws behind the air sliders (pull the knobs straight off, then pop the plastic card out)
-1 goofy screw behind the fan speed selector (pull the knob off and use something to spin the brass thing)

unplug all wires and carefully pull it out.

fuse 21 works when it's just at the acc position.

Once I turn the ignition all the way and turn on the engine the fuse burns up.

Any suggestions? I'm guessing it has something to do with the RPM side of fuse 21 since the radio display and OBC turned on when it was just on the acc position and the fuse did not burn out until I turned the engine on.

also do you guys know where accessory connector C302 applies? or am I looking at a wrong diagram? (1990 325i four door)

I'm trying to figure out all the things that are related to fuse 21 and only turn on with the ignition. (rpm being an obvious one, just looking for the others)
