Snow tires and learn to drive the car properly.

With the exception of 1ft. high piles of snow, I had no problem travelling out in that blizzard back in January where we got upwards of 30". My bone stock E30 was doing better in the snow than most of the 4x4 trucks with plows attached. If you've never driven in the snow before, take your car to an empty parking lot the first snow of the year. Just fuck around and learn how the car handles in snow. Try to simulate different turns at different speeds so you can get used to it and handle anything.

If you're good enough of a driver to keep your car actually on the road, and you don't try to drive around in 5"+ unplowed snow... then yes you shouldn't have to worry about getting stuck.

                1) Buy 4 snow tires.
                2) Learn to drive.

Dont blame us if you R3V... if you R3V, then you didnt do step 2.

i'm up in rochester NY (AKA snowiest city in the US) with my 325is. like the others said, just take it easy. and snow tires WILL help. I was stuck with kelly brand all seasons and they did OK. i never spun out or anything, but trying to get grip when accelerating from a stop was tricky sometimes.

things to do: drive on plowed roads. keep off unplowed roads. dont go out during a blizzard (i tried goin out during the crazy storm this yr in january... and made a u-turn/headed back home after 1 minute of driving... it was just impossible). get Rain-X de-icer, that stuff is magical!!! have GOOD quality brush and ice scraper, not some dollar store set (it will make life much easier). keep a small shovel somewhere because you WILL have to dig yourself outta parking spaces.... (or find someone who'll push you out). some cheapo floor mats to keep them grimey shoes off the carpet (all the salt, snow, etc gets NASSSSTY)

i know of two ppl with wrx's who crashed/spun multiple/hit poles times during bad weather here cuz they got too cocky... :? it was fun teasin them though :D

Ice scraper? Don't waste your money. The defrosters on the e30 works great it takes a few minutes but so does scraping. Besides why break a sweat when you can just let the car do the work

i live in whistler, bc and snow is not an option. if you must drive, get some snow tires. they are night and day better than all seasons. if you got the extra dough, stud them. you will do circles around every other car with studded tires. buy some bottle caps and save your basketweaves for the summer. use straight coolant. use a thinner viscosity oil so it heats up faster. top up all the fluids and you should be fine. do any maintenance before it gets cold, cuz workin on your car in -10 sucks balls.
