Did you take the steering wheel off? It's 100x easier if you take the wheel off. I think you have an airbag wheel so first disconnect the battery and wait like 10 or 15 minutes. Then there are two torx on the backside of the wheel. Take those off and the airbag should pop off. Disconnect the airbag and begin to unbolt the wheel itself. After you unbolt it, turn the key to disengage the wheel lock and pop it off. Don't forget what position you took it off in. Assembly is straightforward.

i assure you all. the steering wheel does not need to come off. it can be easily done with it one. you just have to know the sequence of twists turns and tilts.

BFH. :p But really, it takes some wiggling and twisting.

Steering does not need to come out. Took mine out last week twice.

I couldn't reach it, so I put everything back on. I broke both the triangle tabs on the tops, they just wouldn't come out, they were like stuck on.
Everything's secure still, but I need to take everything out again. :(

^ How do you remove it with it still on? Yes I have an airbag wheel, hence I don't wanna remove it.
How do you take the top plastic portion of the steering column cover off?

i've done it dozens of times, on several cars. wheel stays on, just carefully pull the top forward so it clears and then pull it out with the front facing down. unplug the 3 canon plugs, corner bulbs and any possible cruise mechanism, and slide it out the left side. really sucks you broke the tabs...

yeah, but what's the big deal about the top tabs?
It still feels like its in tight? is my entire cluster fucked?

remove the bottom first then you can remove the top. yes you need to remove the top plastic so the cluster can come out freely.

idk, it may shake around while driving. i hate anything that makes extra noise or isn't solid. why are you doing this again? haha.

i definitely say go from top first...if you have any tab left, pull on the straight towards you, not at an angle (or you will break them har har). you'll have to tilt the top enough to clear an angle to pull the unit out.

yea once you pull the plugs in the back out then it makes it easy to pull out with the wheel in place its a little tricky at first but i have done it 10 times in the last month changed 2 cluster fixed burned out bulbs and now that my lighting is right my tach wont come on and it did before...

i just put my signal left and it slides out real easy at a certain angle. i forgot which plug my cruise was in tho so it's not hooked up anymore...same problem with the lights. must have messed up a contact or something...if i hit my cluster the left side lights back up :loco:

i'm going to re-solder the connections methinks..
