Well when i had my integra gs-r with a CAI,Exhaust,Chip before i would go to the runs i would use three bottles of "104+ Octane booster" and it made my car shoot blue flames out of my exhaust. Now not saying im gonna do that but i did notice that my car would pull a little harder in third.
Im just wondering if it would be ok to use some when filling up with my car with pretty much the same mods.
My sponsor gives me this box of 30 everytime i go to pick up stuff for my cars the bottles say "warning for race use only" and theyre made by Lucas
can i still use it on my e30 without burning out my cat or exhaust. Its free and i have no other use for it but i want to make sure before it destroys my car or ruins the emissions on it.
Bah, the only thing octane boosters are good for is reducing detonation for engines with "high" compression, high-boost turbo/superchargers, cars that run big doses of nitrous, or any engine run at sustained high-speed/high-load.
A few canned liquid “octane boosters” can raise octane, their practical benefits are overstated. Manufacturers claim they increase octane by so many “points.” But the “points” are seldom quantified. The implication some manufacturers hope consumers will make is: one point equals one octane number. THIS IS NOT THE TRUTH. Sometimes, these “points” are tenths of an octane number, in other words - ten times less than what some may believe.
Jim Bell who runs Kenne-Bell Performance Products tested many octane boosters. He said quote: “Don’t waste your time with boosters that use alcohol because they don’t do anything. The ones that say they have lead in them don’t work either because the amount of lead is so small. The only boosters I’ve found to be worthwhile are those that use MMT and one we recommend is the NOS brand.”
Like Jordan said... do they work? Yes they do - but you wont notice on your stock motor.
If you're running an M42 (no knock sensor) on a road course at an HPDE on a hot day, with a 93 Octane chip, would it be a good idea to add a bottle of octane booster to prevent detonation?
Or is it really too minimal of an effect to worry about?
