    Car takes longer to start

My 87 325is seems to be taking longer and longer to start and is combined with a annoying whining/squeal, something must be going bad. I don't have too much knowledge though, so what could be the problem. Thanks.

Is the whine coming from the area around the passenger seat? Your girlfriend is broken. Replace her and you should be fine.

If the whine is coming from the rear and right of you, it could be your fuel pump is failing.

i have the same issues. it starts all the time but its sounds "nasty"

could it be that my flywheel/starter have chips or imperfections in the gears
