    door gong pic?

I think I am missing my door gong. along with many other parts, but 1 thing at a time. I do not get the gong sound when I open the door, and as of now have no obc. my dash is apart at the moment, but I do not see the box under the dash where the steering colum comes in. does someone have a pic of the gong laying around so I can identify it, I would like it to work, and, I am hooking the obc back up so I need to plug a connector into it. If I don't have it I need to get one...

It's this little speaker box that mounts in the knee bolster under the driver's side of the dash. It's possible one of the most annoying things I've ever heard in my life.

I ripped mine out of my car and threw it away, just like with my last E30.

is it necessary to have if I want the obc working correctly, or is it just to tell me it's cold out. I can deal without that feature.

It gongs when the door is open, and gongs when the temp drops below/goes above a certain tempurature. It's not required for the OBC to function.

why on earth would you want a gong.. mine has always been disconnected. and FYI, the temperature beeping (especially when the temperatures are fluctuating near freezing) would be extremely annoying as well. the flashing temperature should be enough to get your attention anyway..

don't really want it. thought it was necessary to have it for the obc to function. but apparantly, the obc does not "need" it to function properly.

Ho funny would it be to hook up a relay instead of the gong and then have the relay control a giagantic 3 trumpet air horn under the hood. You would REALLY know when it was cold out or if your door was open then!

yes, yes I have. Have to make sure though. Apparantly, i'm missing so many parts on this thing it is unbelieveable that it still runs. my latest finds: broken centering guide on driveshaft, broken center support bearing, undid my driveshaft with my fingers at the trans. Broken motor mounts. missing flywheel cover. exhaust held up entirely by 1 bolt on each manifold outlet, nowhere else but the rear. SO, I just have to make sure everything important is there....
