    Wipers died on me today

Fuck my e30, I put so much love and effort into it but new shit breaks every week.

I just bought some nice new bosch evolution blades over the weekend... but true to my e30s behavior the wipers stopped working altogether today.

I am hoping that the motor isnt bad because it looks like a pita to replace.

Before they were kinda flaky but always worked. When I say flaky, I mean I would flip them on but have to ALSO giggle the cruise control stalk. So im wondering if anyone has experience with something similar happening before.

a.) should i replace the stalk first?
b.) is there a way to replace the motor without cutting my body?

    any and all advice appreciated

That sounds like it may be a problem with either the wiper control arm/switch or wiring in the column.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

was it raining? if not, then its not too bad. mine stop working on a stormy rainy day on the freeway. i got some rainx and spray it on the windsheild. it work like a charm, but you have to be going fast so the water would go up.
Bought parts from me before? leave your feedback here

check the wiper control relay thats probably your problem if it if the wiper motor its actually pretty easy to do havent done it on an m42 engine just the m10 and that took me 30 mins tops to do and the stalk ten mins tops to replace

Try tightening the Cruise Control stalk. The ground is linked on the 2 stalks. I had the same problem with my wipers when I bought the car. I tightened the CC stalk and it went away.

I keep seeing people say that, but no one ever gives any hints. I can say that the bentley is fucking useless for this.

Any tips? I have to pull my intake manifold to do a few things, and this needs to happen when I do that.

Pull the motor first. You also need to remove the cover on the firewall. You also need small hands. 15 minutes job to pull if you are clever. 60 if you are a dumb mechanic.

you don't need to pull the manifold for the wiper motor, I don't even think it would make it easier (except getting the cover out of the way).

basically, you need to undo the plastic wiper motor cover first, and pull it out. You'll have to kinda twist it around the motor, and deform it a tiny bit. the motor itself will come right out with the plastic cover out of the way. There was a guide if you do a google search, but it really didn't say much more than that.

you can't see any of the bolts of course, but there aren't very many of them. one for the linkage, and a couple for the motor itself.

the blower motor was 10x harder... well, with the manifold in place, anyway.

Mine was a simple relay replacement...free from a junkyard and all of 10 seconds to swap them out. Good as new.
