    Odometer Gears (VDO vs Motometer)?

WITHOUT taking my cluster out is there anyway to determine if my car uses VDO or Motometer gears? It's a 1989 325is. My odometer stopped working.

www.odometergears.com said it could be either....

    Thanks,
    George

wouldn't you have VDO gears in a VDO cluster and vice-versa?

Look at the cluster and see if it says VDO or Motometer? That is as long as the internals haven't been replaced before....

Thanks guys, looks like I have to take it off first before buying anyway because the E3 VDO gear could either have a 48x12 or 48x14 tooth count.
