    Locked myself out

So last night I bought myself a 1989 325ic, and proceeded to lock myself out of it. I didn't realize all the doors locked automatically when you shut the door and I left the key in the ignition. What is my best course of action?
    I appreciate any help

      Not very lucky.

EBay has replica and OEM keys. Otherwise locksmith could cut a spare while you got him.

the doors aren't supposed to lock when you shut the door. it's actually impossible to lock your keys inside if it's working right. you need to fix your locks, too.

I had this exact same problem. Turned out PO had an aftermarket alarm installed which locked all doors every time you close them. After you get inside the car, see if there is an alarm installed in there.

Yeah, that sounds like an aftermarket system to me.
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
                    Mark: "You never will."

There is a little red light in the console, next to the shifter. Looks like the old style alarm systems

Call BMW of Chantilly (in Chantilly, va) ask for parts, then ask for your key code. They're pretty good about giving key codes if you explain your situation
