    supereta power addition

so over this summer I plan on ripping this engine apart and cleaning it up and replacing common ware parts and adding a few things. here is my list of ideas so far:

    >"i" intake manafold - does this "bolt up" or do I need to port it like on an ETA?

    >new "i" cam - is this the best option? and what do I need to replace along with it ... im a newb at overhead cam engines

    >new m20b25 double valve springs

    >"i" throttle body- is this as big as I can go or can i use the m30 / would that be an imporvement?

    >m30 AFM - from seeing others conversations it seems some modifying needs to be done for it to work, could you point me in the right direction as to what needs doing?

    >CAI? - if so what kind etc.

    >chip - what is a good solution for this should I use somthing for the b25 bc of the cams or should I use something for the supereta...custom burned is most likely out of my pricerange but ill take info none the less.

i'd like to get this engine to atleast 170ish bhp, is this possible and realistic with the mentioned mods?

comments? , what further can be done for gains?

-Trying to become less of a newb,

    1, get a 325i cylinder head.
    2, get a 325i intake and tb
    3, get a 325i ecu
    (a few other minor goodies)

you have a 2.7 hybrid. Then you can add things like m30 afm, cold air intake, and you will probably want to find a chip that will be suitable for a 2.7i engine. A few guys here have done it, maybe they wll post up.

      i cam
      dual valve springs
      i ecu

no porting necessary for i intake manifold as the supereta already has an "i" head.

then chip it like you would an "i" since u have the i ecu, with exhaust and a m30afm u should have decent power

also consider upgrading your differential from the eta's 2.93 you have.

        anybody else?

... is the I cam from pelican parts a good choice?
( i dont want to go with an very agressive cam, as i want to leave my options open for a turbo in the future)

Either shave 'i' pistons 3mm or get supereta pistons to use with the i head and e block.

Bolts right up since you have the 325i cylinder head the ports match too.

i cam with i dual valve springs or just get inner springs however u wanna do it.

i throttle body is good enough for most.

            >m30 AFM - from seeing others conversations it seems some modifying needs to be done for it to work, could you point me in the right direction as to what needs doing?

            search for this one.

I would get a 325i Motronic 1.3 DME (173/380, etc) and chip that. I tried using a 325i chip in the superETA 154 DME...didn't start.

Sure, but you'd have to dyno to be sure. We can only speculate. I've done what you're trying to do a long time ago and it makes for a nice engine with good torque and power. With 8.5:1 compression I kinda wished I had turbocharged it after seeing what kind of power other guys have been making.
