lower the front without actually lowering the car

I know there is a thread here for suspension. But I haven't done anything with mine yet. I have factory spring and shocks up front and factory springs with Billy HD's rear. I don't like the huge front wheel clearance and would like to lower this. I would also like to stifn up the front ride a bit.

Since I put the HD's in the back it responds better in the rear. I have seen people install drop hats to lower the clearance without having to change the spring.
Could someone provide some guidance without going radical. I really like the factory ride from my 325IS and wanted to duplicate this for my vert.

So thinking: drop hats up front with HD's? would this work with the factory springs well?

    input is greatly appreciated.

    Thx.

        This.

And your title makes no sense. You want to lower it without lowering it? Good luck.

the only way to close wheel gap without lowering the car is to increase the diameter of your wheel and tire package. or I guess you could modify your arches.

ok, so drop hats won't do anything with the gap? what is the purpose of drop hats then? educate me because I am not up on suspension stuff.

drop hats will lower the front of your car about 3/8" - 1/2". People never said it wouldn't lower your car, they said it wouldn't lower it enough.

Besides, there is an entire thread in the suspension section about E90 drop hats, and it's stickied, so you couldn't possibly miss it.

they do lower your car, but only a little to perfect the stance. its like a .5 of a inch. just get bavauto springs, bilstein sports. they ride really soft and lower it slightly.

^^iamcreepingdeath: the e90 hats drop it like .25 of a inch, richardkeith ones go the .50 inch.

M3 springs would work as well, not very stiff.

I'm running vogtland springs all around with e90 drop hats, and I really can't feel much, if any difference from stock. Perfect for a dd imo. You have a choice, lower your car or don't lower it. Once you've decided to lower it, find some spring rates that work for you. Want oem ride? Get softer springs and shocks. Want stiff? Get jstock. There's a whole world of choices out there, see if any local guys will let you sample their cars.

or you could heat the springs with a torch till they loose their stiffness and the car lowers.

                              OP, please dont do that^
