    Missing Head Bolt

Anybody ever had this problem? I opened up my valve cover and there was a head bolt missing. I think I should replace all of them, rather than just the one... Might as well do the gasket, too.
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
    Mark: "You never will."

::shrug:: I just opened up my valve cover and it was gone! You should ask my previous owner...

Are the other headbolts hex headed or torx? the Hex head bolts can some time break the head off then it will rattle around and get cuaght under a rocker and snap it.

Are they hex bolts or torx bolts? The heads of the hex head bolts were known to break off and cause damage to the head. Are you sure the bolt is missing completely or is the head just broken off?

Well, they're torx bolts. I didn't get a real good chance to study it, but as I was adjusting my valves I did not see any head of a bolt in there. It almost looks like as if someone left it out. Tomorrow or Saturday I'll take a flashlight to it and peep around...

There should be 14 bolts, if its short than you have problem, especially if its snapped.
