    Strange popping/creaking sound?

Perhaps you guys can help me figure out what the popping or creaking noise is on the right side of my cab. The sound seems to be coming from the driver door (rt hand drive over here ;) or the right rear of the car.

The E46 M3 Cabrio spring perch is only 2-3yrs old, but I do still have original bushes, so I'm guessing that's the problem. I've never encountered this before so perhaps some of you could shed some light.

    Thanks!

EDIT: the odd thing is that in the morning when the car is cold there is no noise for at least 15-30 mins.

Do you have Tree House Racing CABs? I think they pop sometimes.

I enterpreted that as the strut bushings, not CAB.

I'm not sure if it's the same sound, but I also experience a popping/knocking noise from the door. It doesn't happen all of the time either. Sometimes it'll go for days and do nothing, but other days it will do it all the time. I think I've determined it to be the door checker (device that holds the door open in certain positions). Does the door make any clicking when you open and close it?
If this isn't your problem, then I can't help you out anymore.
It's always frustrating trying to figure out where all the noises are coming from... Good luck.

if your door catch is making noise, replace it before it breaks. Mine creaked for a few months and then suddenly the mount broke in half. you can bend the mounting area for the catch and if your door suddenly swings open it's going to be ugly.

Thanks, but I checked that already.....very frustrating indeed as this car has always been very solid with no noises and now I just want to drive it into a wall

No, it's not the catch that's having issues, it's the checker. The checker is mounted between the hinges on the front-most part of the door.

                        **as an update**

Found the cause of the creaking/popping noise, and it wasn't anything in the door..........it was one of the bushes on the main rear beam, which is located behind the rear seat and obviously under the car ;) The right side bush was shot.
