    Speedometer pooped itself

My speedometer sometimes stops working, but when i tap on the cluster it comes back. It has lead me to think the plastic gears behind are worn out. Can anyone confirm this ? And where can i get new gears ?

I've got the same problem, Check the ground - grounding the speedo wire (from somewhere near the dash) onto a piece of bare metal can temporarily fix this issue.

if you tap it and it comes back it's probably just the ground connection.

The 'broken gears' refer only to the odometer. You have an electrical issue, not a mechanical issue.

check the connector on the back also. Mine is missing the black clip on the back every so often if I hit bump just right my speedo will stop working

Could be a broken trace on the PCB also... my tach cuts out like that a lot and that seems to be the only cause left that I haven't checked.

i had the same problem and it was as easy and re-soldering some of the bad joints on the back. I re did mine and now the speedo works great.
