e30 352i 1989 coupe, where to put steering Fluid

Hey guys im a noob at this. I looked in the car manual and didn't see where to put steering fluid. I have steering fluid in the garage but i don't wanna put it in the wrong place. And is there a certain kind of fluid i should use and also i have a manual. And if im not mistaken i heard there is a difference between ATF and power steering fluid. If you can explain that to me that would be great also.

Automatic transmission fluid and power steering fluid are the same thing. Hydraulic fluid.
So using and buying these two items are interchangable..
as for the location there is a power steering resoivoir by the fuse box.. assuming your car is an m20 motor.. cuz you put e30 352i in the title. lol.
But yee right by the fuse box theres a cap you twist off..

No, they are not! Do not use power steering fluid, use standard MD3 ATF.

This thread scares me. If your car is a 325, then it should have an M20.

I gotta dissagree.. power steering fluid & ATF are hydraulic fluid period. But I also agree that using MD3 ATF is the best.

              I am using Dexron ATF..

ATF is a different weight of fluid, and has detergents and friction modifiers that PS fluid does not.

The system is designed to use ATF, so that's what you should use..

While power steering fluid and ATF are both hydraulic fluids, their composition is very different. Using the wrong fluid in a system will usually cause seal damage. In this case the power steering system requires ATF.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
